HOW TO SELECT A FAN

Selecting a right fan a specific application is may be very crucial to the success of the objectives for which the fan is needed.  To make the right choice you need to know the following:

a.  What is the "duty-point" air/gas flow rate required.

b.  What is the density of the gas to be moved.

c.  What is the temperature of the air/gas which passes through the fan.

d.  What is the "system pressure drop" at the required gas/air flow rate.

e.  Whether the gas/air is clean or it carries dust/materials with it which pass through the fan.

f.  What is the moisture content of the gas.

g.  Are the conditions corrosive / abrasive?
Selection of centrifugal fans is a complicated exercise, because there are so many types of fans available and some fans can tolerate hot or contaminated (dust or granular materials) air streams and some can handle only clean air or gas.
